The 2026 Exea Impact Teaching Quality and Innovation Grant recognises an AI-driven teaching transformation project

On 8th June, UIC Barcelona held the 6th edition of the Exea Impact Teaching Quality and Innovation Grant, an initiative promoted by the university’s Teaching Quality and Innovation Unit with the support of Exea Impact.

This year’s winning project was “Transforming University Teaching through Artificial Intelligence: An Integrated Multidisciplinary Project across Faculties”, recognised for its cross-disciplinary approach and its potential to be replicated across different academic fields.

Led by Dr Marc Simón, lecturer at the Faculty of Law, the project explores the use of artificial intelligence as a tool to enhance teaching practices. Its aim is to develop new methodologies, encourage collaboration between faculties and contribute to a more innovative learning experience, better adapted to the current challenges facing higher education.

The event was attended by Xavier Puig, President of Exea Impact; Cristina Monforte, Vice-Rector for Planning, Quality and Strategic Development at UIC Barcelona; and Isabel Villanueva, Director of the Teaching Quality and Innovation Unit. During his remarks, Xavier Puig reflected on the challenges involved in the design of new technologies, the role of artificial intelligence and its impact on education, highlighting both the opportunities it presents and the risks it raises.

Formerly known as the Puig Grant, the award has been presented since 2016 to support UIC Barcelona professionals in developing innovative projects that help improve the quality of teaching and learning. Through this collaboration, Exea Impact continues to strengthen its ties with the university and reaffirm its commitment to innovation, academic excellence and the improvement of the learning experience.
