Exea Impact signs a collaboration agreement with Aretian for its first urban climate resilience project
Exea Impact has approved its first project under its Urban Resilience to Climate Change initiative, developed in collaboration with Aretian Urban Analytics and Design, an organisation specialising in advanced urban analysis and the development of digital tools for city planning.
The initiative will focus on the Barcelona metropolitan region and will add a new climate layer to the Aretian City Digital Twin of the Barcelona metropolitan region, an urban analysis tool developed by Aretian with the contribution, since 2024, of Fundació Família Torras Lombana and Barcelona Global.
A digital twin is a virtual representation of a territory that brings together urban data and makes it possible to analyse different scenarios to support decision-making. Drawing on Aretian’s expertise, this new layer will allow for a more detailed understanding of how certain extreme climate events affect the city and its population. In particular, it will focus on heatwaves and flooding, as well as their effects on people’s health and wellbeing, especially among the most vulnerable groups.
The aim is to develop a useful and rigorous tool to help identify the areas most at risk, anticipate potential impacts and assess different solutions before they are implemented. In this way, the project will contribute to more agile, precise and better-adapted urban responses to climate change.
With this initiative, Exea Impact opens a new line of work in the climate field and reinforces its commitment to innovation applied to complex challenges, by supporting solutions that help build healthier, better prepared and more resilient cities.
