Xavier Puig Alsina, President of Exea Impact, appointed Chair of the Gran Teatre del Liceu’s Patronage Council
Xavier Puig Alsina, President of Exea Impact, has been unanimously elected Chair of the Gran Teatre del Liceu Foundation’s Patronage Council, following a proposal by the Theatre’s presidency and general management.
Xavier Puig succeeds Helena Guardans, who was recently appointed President of the Gran Teatre del Liceu Foundation. Elisa Durán will continue as Vice-Chair of the Patronage Council, representing the ”la Caixa” Foundation. The appointment builds on Xavier Puig’s and his family’s close ties with the Liceu, as well as their longstanding commitment to Barcelona and its cultural institutions. Over several generations, the Puig family has viewed philanthropy as a way to contribute to the city’s development and share the fruits of business activity with society.
“I take on this responsibility with great enthusiasm and a deep commitment to the Liceu, an institution with which I feel a particularly strong connection and which forms part of Barcelona’s cultural identity,” said Xavier Puig.
The new Chair of the Patronage Council also highlighted the importance of civil society and businesses playing an active role in Barcelona’s major cultural institutions: “Patronage is an expression of this collective commitment and an essential means of contributing to the Liceu’s future.”
