Today’s digital environment has a profound impact on the well-being, relationships, and development of children and adolescents. Yet, despite being one of the groups most affected, young people’s voices remain underrepresented in debates around digital policy and regulation.
Strengthening youth leadership
Exea Impact and the 5Rights Foundation have joined forces to strengthen youth leadership and encourage the active participation of young people, as well as the organizations that represent them and work with and for children, in defending their rights in the digital environment. This partnership is founded on a shared belief: young people should not only be protected, but also be agents of change, with the knowledge and power to understand their rights and help shape safer, healthier digital spaces.
The program combines a global perspective with local implementation:
• International: Developing a global platform to empower young people to effectively advocate for a digital environment that respects and protects their rights.
• Local: A national pilot program to train and support young people and the organizations that work with and for children, to influence digital policy and rights at the national level.
5Rights Foundation
The 5Rights Foundation is a leading international organization promoting and defending children’s rights in the digital environment. It works to ensure that technology respects these rights by design and by default. Its work has been instrumental in shaping regulatory frameworks and international standards, as well as driving concrete changes in the design of digital products.
